For the recent training in India, 32 female military officers from 24 countries took part in the Special Female Military Officers’ Training Course, which also aims to address the serious shortage of women military personnel in United Nations peacekeeping missions across the world. This new two-week course builds on previous courses which targeted all peacekeeping personnel, men and women. UN Women, in partnership with the Centre for United Nations Peacekeeping (CUNPK) in India, recently launched a pilot project that aims to train female military officers to prevent and address sexual and gender-based violence in armed conflict.
